Vegetable And Fruit Groups
It is the group in which all edible parts of plants are collected. Vegetables and fruits such as apple, pear, melon, watermelon, parsley, tomato, potato, radish, zucchini. They are rich in folic acid, beta-carotene, which is the precursor of vitamin A, lycopene, lutein, vitamins E, C, K, B2 and B6, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and fiber like dried legumes. It is recommended that 5-7 servings per day be consumed.
Portion Size Of Fruits:
- 1 medium fruit; apple, orange, pear or banana
- 2 small fruits; plum, kiwi or tangerine
- 6 strawberries, 10 grapes or 16 raspberries
Portion Size Of Vegetables:
- ½ cup of cooked vegetables
- 1 bowl of salad; lettuce, tomato, cucumber
- 1 bowl of homemade vegetable soup
